Rommehedslägret, also known as Rommehed Barracks, is a history museum located in Borlänge, with additional facilities in Falun. The museum is situated in a barrack that was constructed in 1876 and serves as a repository for the history of the Royal Dal Regiment, tracing its origins back to the medieval period. The exhibitions focus on various aspects of military life, particularly highlighting soldier experiences during the Great Power Era, and provide insights into daily life at Rommehed.
Recognized as a historical site since 1991, Rommehedslägret is part of a regional pilot project initiated during the European Building Conservation Year in 1975. The museum not only showcases military history but also emphasizes local heritage, offering educational resources that detail the legacy of the Dal Regiment. Visitors can explore a range of exhibitions that contribute to a deeper understanding of the region's military past and its impact on local culture.
