How fast does a Voi scooter go?

Short answer

A Voi scooter in Sweden is limited to the legal maximum of 20 km/h, and Voi's own pages describe slower speeds in slow zones and in a beginner mode. In a 2022 Voi post the speed drops to 6 km/h in slow zones and to 15 km/h in beginner mode.

Why

  1. According to the Swedish Transport Agency, an e-scooter treated as a bicycle may have a top speed of at most 20 km/h.
  2. A Voi post dated 9 March 2022 says the speed is automatically reduced from the statutory 20 km/h to a walking speed of 6 km/h in slow speed zones, and beginner mode lowers the maximum to 15 km/h.
  3. Voi's safety page says yellow areas on the map are speed-limited zones where the scooter slows automatically, and that beginner mode lowers the maximum speed.

Details

Voi's app listing recommends activating the driving mode with reduced top speed for first-time riders. The 2022 post also describes 15 km/h on Wednesday to Saturday nights between 22:00 and 05:00 in the cities it covers, so local limits can differ. Tip
