Do Swedish hostels provide bed linen?

What STF says about sheets, sleeping bags and hiring linen.

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

At STF's mountain stations and cabins guests are advised to bring their own sheet and pillowcase, while STF Huskvarna Hostel and Hotel says sheets can be hired. Bed linen and towels are not included when booking at STF Storulvån. Linen rules are set by each accommodation, so check its page before you arrive.

Why

  1. According to STF, at many accommodations you can use a sleeping bag provided you have a sheet and pillowcase with you, and the host decides whether to allow it.
  2. According to STF, bed linen and towels are not included when booking a bed or room at STF Storulvån, and you can add a set when booking or rent one at check-in.
  3. According to STF Huskvarna Hostel and Hotel, "you can hire sheets" there.

Details

At Storulvån every bed already has a duvet and pillows, towels can be rented separately and the page lists no price. Own bedding is allowed there if each bed has a complete linen set, a sleeping bag with a pillowcase, or a sleeping bag liner covering the mattress with a pillowcase. For hostels in the city see hostels in Stockholm, and for the rest of the budget how much money you need per day in Sweden.

Tip

Read the facilities section of the accommodation's own page before you book, and pack a sheet and pillowcase if you plan to use a sleeping bag.

What may differ

Rules differ between accommodations, and the host decides whether a sleeping bag is allowed.

You can always use your own sleeping bag instead of sheets at a Swedish hostel.

What actually happens

STF says that at many accommodations a sleeping bag is allowed provided you have a sheet and pillowcase with you, and that the host decides whether to allow it.
