Can you pay for a hotel with Klarna in Sweden?
What Klarna has announced for hotels, and what Scandic says about payment.
Short answer
Klarna announced in April 2026 that hotels using Aven Hospitality's booking engine will offer its payment options, with Sweden among the launch markets. The release gives no go-live date. Whether a particular hotel accepts Klarna depends on its own checkout.
Why
- According to Klarna's press release of 14 April 2026, Klarna has partnered with Aven Hospitality, formerly Sabre Hospitality Solutions, to bring its payment options to the 10,000 hotels connected to Aven's booking engine.
- According to the same release, the integration will launch across the US, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Norway and Finland, with more markets later in the year.
- According to Scandic's booking terms, all its hotels accept the most commonly used payment cards, and its hotels in Sweden and Germany do not accept cash.
Details
According to the release, guests can pay in full, split the cost into interest-free instalments or choose longer-term financing. The release does not say whether all 10,000 hotels will be active at launch. Tip
Look for Klarna among the payment options at the hotel's checkout before you rely on it, and keep a payment card ready, because Scandic says its hotels in Sweden do not accept cash.
What may differ
Availability depends on the hotel and the booking channel. The Klarna release covers hotels connected to Aven Hospitality's booking engine.
Common misconception
Every hotel in Sweden accepts Klarna.
What actually happens
Klarna's April 2026 announcement concerns hotels connected to Aven Hospitality's booking engine, so it depends on the individual hotel's checkout.
