Where should you stay in Gothenburg?
Areas, neighbourhoods and types of stay, from the official visitor guide.
Short answer
Gothenburg's official visitor guide lists hotels in six areas: the city centre, Hisingen, Gothenburg West, the archipelago, close to Gothenburg and Gothenburg East. Its weekend guide says it doesn't really matter where in the city you spend the nights. Haga, Linné, Majorna and Avenyn are among the neighbourhoods it describes.
Why
- According to goteborg.com, the hotel listing can be filtered by city centre, Hisingen, Gothenburg West, Archipelago, Close to Gothenburg and Gothenburg East.
- Göteborg & Co describes Haga as having cosy cafés and unique shops, Linné as having vibrant nightlife and turn-of-the-century buildings, and Majorna as a cultural hotspot with a vibrant restaurant scene.
- Goteborg.com lists hostels both in town and in the archipelago, and B&Bs on Styrsö and Brännö, with Styrsö described as a 30-minute ferry ride from Gothenburg.
