How many terminals does Arlanda have?

Which terminals are in use today and what happened to 3 and 4.

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

Arlanda has two passenger terminals in use, Terminal 2 and Terminal 5, since Terminal 4 became part of Terminal 5 and Terminal 3 is being joined to Terminal 2. The old Terminal 4 is now gate area C in Terminal 5, and gate area A is reached by shuttle bus from gate F31. Checked on 28 October 2026.

Why

  1. Swedavia says gate area C is the name for the old Terminal 4, which is now part of Terminal 5.
  2. According to Swedavia, the security control in Terminal 3 closed on 1 September 2026, a corridor linking it to Terminal 2 is being built, and the former Terminal 3 gate area is planned to reopen at the end of 2026.
  3. Swedavia's transfer page links Terminal 2 and Terminal 5 for passengers after security.

Details

Terminal 2 was rebuilt in 2013, and Terminal 5 opened in 1976 as the international terminal. If you are unsure which one to go to, see Arlanda and the alternatives. For a hotel next to the terminal, see the hotel closest to Terminal 5.

Tip

Look up your own flight on Swedavia's departures page the day before, because Swedavia advises travellers to confirm where their check-in and departure are.

What may differ

The numbers can change again: Swedavia plans to reopen the former Terminal 3 gate area at the end of 2026, and construction work in Terminal 2 continues into early 2027.

Common misconception

Arlanda has four or five terminals, numbered 2 to 5, and you must pick the right one.

What actually happens

Swedavia says Terminal 4 is now part of Terminal 5, so in practice you choose between Terminal 2 and Terminal 5.
