How much does the train from Malmö to Copenhagen cost?
How the fare is shown, the tourist ticket and where to buy.
Short answer
The price of a Malmö-Copenhagen train ticket is shown for each journey in the Öresundståg booking planner, and Skånetrafiken's 48-hour Öresund tourist ticket costs SEK 599, bought in the app. A single ticket covers public transport in zones 1, 3 and 4 on the traffic day, and you cannot buy tickets on the train.
Why
- Öresundståg says its booking page shows departures, travel time, ticket prices and transfers for comparison.
- Skånetrafiken says the Turistbiljett Öresund costs SEK 599 for unlimited travel for 48 hours in Skåne and on the Danish side of the Öresund, including the Copenhagen Metro, and can only be bought in the app.
- Skånetrafiken said on 28 November 2025 that tickets for travel across the Öresund were not affected by the price changes taking effect on 7 January 2026.
Details
The SEK 599 price comes from Skånetrafiken's launch article of 1 April 2025, which also gives SEK 300 for children aged 7 to 15, so confirm today's price in the app. Öresundståg says a single ticket for travel to or from Denmark covers public transport in area F+L (zones 1, 3 and 4) during the traffic day, and ticket machines stand at the Swedish stations the trains call at, at Copenhagen Central Station and at Copenhagen Airport. For the bridge toll by car, see how much it costs to cross the Öresund Bridge, and for the rail side see Skånetrafiken to Øresund.
Tip
If you plan several trips in two days, compare the single-ticket price in the planner with the 48-hour tourist ticket, which also covers the Copenhagen Metro. If you buy in an app, activate the ticket before the train's original departure time.
What may differ
Discounts depend on who you are: Öresundståg's student-discount tickets require a digital student ID with a valid student travel symbol plus valid photo ID, and the tourist ticket has a child price.
Common misconception
You can pay the conductor for the ticket on the train between Malmö and Copenhagen.
What actually happens
Visit Sweden says you cannot purchase a ticket on the train from Copenhagen Airport to Malmö, so buy it at the station, online or in an app first.
