Where the blue line runs, where it splits and which stations SL names.

Short answer

The blue metro line runs from Kungsträdgården via T-Centralen to Västra skogen, where it splits into a branch to Akalla and a branch to Hjulsta. Region Stockholm says it is also called Järvabanan and that it opened in 1975.

Why

  1. According to Region Stockholm, the blue line, also called Järvabanan, runs from Hjulsta to Kungsträdgården and turned 50 on 31 August 2025.
  2. SL's guide to the art along the blue line names T-Centralen, Kungsträdgården, Rådhuset, Stadshagen and Västra skogen, and says the line branches after Västra skogen.
  3. According to SL, the Akalla branch has Solna centrum, Husby and Akalla, and the Hjulsta branch has Sundbybergs centrum, Rissne and Tensta.

Details

SL's art guide names only some of the stations, so use the SL journey planner for the full list of stops in each direction. Some blue line entrances do not stay open for the whole time trains run, and SL lists the different hours on its page for the blue line. For other stations, see train and subway stations in Stockholm, and for what the capital costs, see whether Stockholm is expensive.

Tip

Check whether your train goes to Akalla or Hjulsta before you board, because the two branches serve different stations after Västra skogen.

What may differ

The stations depend on the branch: Akalla via Solna centrum and Husby, Hjulsta via Sundbybergs centrum, Rissne and Tensta.
