What time does the Stockholm metro close?

Last trains, weekend night service and night buses

Answered at: Checked at:

Short answer

From Sunday to Thursday the last Stockholm metro trains leave T-Centralen shortly before 1 am, and on Friday and Saturday nights the metro runs all night. Between 1 and 4:30 am on those nights trains run about every 30 minutes, and on weekdays the first trains leave T-Centralen around 5 am. Times are from the SL timetables valid until 12 December 2026.

Why

  1. According to SL, the metro runs around the clock at weekends.
  2. In the SL timetables for all three lines, the last trains from T-Centralen on Sunday to Thursday nights leave between about 00:47 and 00:59.
  3. The SL timetables show trains every 30 minutes between 01:00 and 04:30 on Friday and Saturday nights.

Details

Each line has its own last departure, and trains to the outer ends of the lines arrive there after 01:00. Station entrances open a few minutes before the first train and close a few minutes after the last one, according to SL, but some entrances have shorter hours. On public holidays the Sunday opening hours apply to the entrances. For how the metro fits with other city transport, see the guide to urban transport.

Tip

On weekday nights after the metro stops, look for SL night buses: according to SL, buses with numbers ending in the 90s, such as 94, 191, 592 and 890, are night buses. Check the SL app for your exact last departure and see whether Stockholm is safe for late journeys.

What may differ

The current timetables run from 14 December 2025 to 12 December 2026, so times may change after that. Works on the lines, holidays and the summer timetable can also change the last departures, and the hours of individual station entrances differ.
