Which bridges in Sweden have tolls?
Which bridges charge, what a car pays and how payment works.
Short answer
Sweden's toll bridges include Motalabron (SEK 5), Sundsvallsbron (SEK 9) and Skurubron (SEK 4) per passage for a car, and the Öresund Bridge to Denmark (SEK 690). At the three domestic bridges an invoice is sent afterwards, because you cannot stop and pay at the control point.
Why
- In Motala and Sundsvall there is a system of infrastructure charges, and from 1 October 2023 also at Skurubron, which connects Stockholm with eastern Nacka and Värmdö, according to the Swedish Transport Agency.
- The charge is SEK 5 at Motalabron, SEK 9 at Sundsvallsbron and SEK 4 at Skurubron per passage for a passenger car, and it is charged every day around the clock, according to the Swedish Transport Agency.
- The Öresund Bridge toll is set by Øresundsbron: SEK 690 per one-way trip for a passenger car at the toll station from 14 September 2026.
Details
At the three infrastructure-charge bridges a camera registers the plate and the owner receives a payment slip afterwards, and foreign-registered vehicles are invoiced via EPASS24. The charge is per crossing and applies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For the Öresund Bridge, see how much it costs to cross the Öresund Bridge and the Öresund Bridge and trains, and for planning a drive see road trips in Sweden.
Tip
On a road trip that crosses several of these bridges, add the small per-passage charges to your budget and expect the invoices to arrive after the trip.
What may differ
Motalabron and Sundsvallsbron list the same amounts for cars, light trucks and buses, while Öresundsbron's prices depend on the length of the vehicle.
Common misconception
The Öresund Bridge is the only toll bridge in Sweden.
What actually happens
The Swedish Transport Agency lists infrastructure charges at Motalabron, Sundsvallsbron and, since 1 October 2023, Skurubron.
