Ren Kust is a waste management service based in Göteborg that specializes in environmental cleanup efforts along the West Coast. The organization conducts an annual cleanup, removing approximately 200 tons of debris from beaches and coastal areas. This initiative involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including municipalities, contractors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and local volunteers, known as Strandräddarna, who actively participate in these efforts.
To enhance their cleanup initiatives, Ren Kust utilizes the Strandstädarkartan, a tool designed to track cleanup activities and monitor the impact of marine litter on the environment. The organization also focuses on raising awareness about the importance of beach cleaning through educational articles and events such as Västerhavsveckan, which promotes ocean conservation and awareness. Additionally, Ren Kust advocates for funding and support to sustain their ongoing cleanup efforts and encourage community involvement in protecting coastal ecosystems.
