Ersboda Church was established in 1982 and is situated in a culturally diverse area of Umeå. The church serves as a community hub, emphasizing diakonia, which involves social service and support for individuals in need. It actively engages in interfaith dialogue, fostering relationships among various religious groups and promoting understanding and cooperation within the community.
The church collaborates with volunteers to organize a variety of events and activities aimed at bringing people together. These include concerts and music programs, as well as community dinners that encourage social interaction among residents. Additionally, Ersboda Church features a thrift shop known as Loppis, which provides affordable goods while supporting local initiatives. The church also publishes a newsletter titled Tidningen Spira, keeping the community informed about its activities and offerings, and it provides a welcoming environment for individuals from diverse cultures and religions.
