Shoemakers in Stockholm: 10 shoe repair shops for heels, resoling, keys and bags
Shoemakers in Stockholm come here in three kinds: craft workshops that resole welted shoes and mend bags, shoe and key services for heels, keys and locks, and shoe repair shops where dry cleaning and sewing are handed in over the same counter. The cards give the address, phone number and a short description of each workshop, and the map below the cards shows which one is nearest.
Craft shoemakers: resoling of welted shoes, bags and shoes made to order
Shoe and key services on Kungsholmen and Götgatan: heels, keys, locks and sharpening
With dry cleaning and tailoring over the same counter: Medborgarplatsen, Kungsholmsgatan and Vasastan

Which group suits you
The page helps if a pair of welted leather shoes needs a new sole, if a heel has come off and you are in a hurry, or if you want to leave shoes, dry cleaning and a spare key in one errand.
| If you need | What to look at | Which group fits | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| To resole welted leather shoes | A shoemaker that mentions welted work and leather soles | Craft shoemakers | When the shoes will be ready: resoling takes longer than new heels |
| To mend a bag or replace a zip | Bag repair or zip replacement on the website | Craft shoemakers or shoe and key services | Whether the workshop takes your material |
| New heels the same day | The word snabbklackning (quick heeling) | Shoe and key services | Whether you can wait on the spot or collect later |
| A copy of a key | Key cutting while you wait | Shoe and key services | That the workshop has a blank for your type of key |
| To leave shoes, dry cleaning and trousers to be taken up | Dry cleaning and tailoring alongside the shoe repair | With dry cleaning and tailoring over the same counter | Which day each item will be ready |
Three kinds of shoemaker
- Craft shoemakers: four workshops on Östermalm, in Gamla stan, in the City district and in Birkastan.
- Shoe and key services: two workshops on Kungsholmen and one on Götgatan.
- With dry cleaning and tailoring: by Medborgarplatsen, on Kungsholmsgatan and on Döbelnsgatan.
- Two of the craft shoemakers are run by the same family business.
In the first group the craft comes first. On Nybrogatan on Östermalm there is a shoemaker from 1922 that repairs men's and women's shoes and bags, sells shoes and shoe care products and accepts shoes sent in by post. In an alley in Gamla stan lies a workshop from 1945 that does full and half soles, welt-stitched or stitched through depending on how the shoe is built, in oak-tanned leather or hard-wearing rubber, and that also makes handmade shoes, orthopaedic shoes and shoes for theatre and dance. In the City district there is a shoemaker inside a department store, with classic shoe care, repairs, bag mending and door signs, and in Birkastan the same family business has its own shop, where a third-generation master shoemaker also sells shoes and holds shoe care classes.
Shoe and key services are the place for everyday jobs: heels, soles and a spare key. On Sankt Eriksgatan on Kungsholmen the work covers shoe repairs, keys and locks, name plates and skate sharpening, and on Fleminggatan heels, resoling, leather care and key cutting. On Götgatan on Södermalm you find soling, heeling and quick heeling, repair of bags and some leather goods, knife and scissor sharpening, copying of transponder keys too, and fitting of locks and security locks.
In the third group you run several errands at once. By the ticket barriers in the Medborgarplatsen metro station, exit Folkungagatan, there is a workshop that fits new heels, replaces soles and zips, sews up split seams, takes up trousers, engraves signs and accepts dry cleaning. On Kungsholmsgatan the offer is shoe repair, shoe care, lock service, dry cleaning and tailoring, and the workshop is a member of the Swedish master shoemakers' association, Sveriges Skomästarförbund. On Döbelnsgatan in Vasastan dry cleaning, tailoring, shoe repair and key service share the same premises.
Most shoemakers in the directory are listed in the category Workshops & Manufacturing, and those that are also dry cleaners are under Dry Cleaners & Laundry Services. The city page is Stockholm, and guides to other everyday services are in the section Services and practical.
While you wait or in a few days
- Keys: three workshops write that they cut keys while you wait.
- Heels: the shoe repair shop on Götgatan offers quick heeling.
- Resoling: allow a few days.
- By post: the shoemaker on Nybrogatan accepts shoes that are sent in.
Few workshops state how long a repair takes. The clearest is the shoemaker on Fleminggatan: simpler repairs are often ready the same day, while resoling and larger jobs can take a few days (the website of the workshop, 7 October 2026). On Götgatan quick heeling is offered alongside ordinary heeling.
Keys are the fastest. In Gamla stan, on Fleminggatan and by Medborgarplatsen copies of common key types are made while you wait, and transponder keys are copied on Götgatan.
Resoling welted shoes is the biggest job, and the craft shoemakers give no times for it on their websites. Ask when the shoes will be ready as you hand them in, and say so if you need them by a certain date. If you live far away you can send the shoes by post to the shoemaker on Nybrogatan.
Opening hours: early by the metro, late in the department store
- Earliest: 7 am by Medborgarplatsen and 8 am on Nybrogatan and in Gamla stan.
- Latest: until 7 pm on weekdays in the department store in the City district.
- Saturdays: eight of the ten workshops are open, at the longest until 6 pm.
- Sundays: none of the workshops states Sunday opening.
If the shoes are to be handed in before work, three workshops open early on weekdays: the one by the barriers at Medborgarplatsen at 7 am and the shoemakers on Nybrogatan and in Gamla stan at 8 am (the websites, read on 7 October 2026). The others that state their hours open between 9 and 11 am.
After work the shoemaker in the department store stays open longest, until 7 pm on weekdays and 6 pm on Saturdays. The workshops by Medborgarplatsen and on Döbelnsgatan close at 6.30 pm, and several others at 6 pm. Both workshops of the second group on Kungsholmen close earlier on Fridays, at 4 pm and 3.30 pm.
On Saturdays eight of the ten are open according to their websites, mostly until 2, 3 or 4 pm. The workshop in Gamla stan gives weekday hours only, and for the shoemaker on Kungsholmsgatan we found no hours at all, so phone before you go. The shoemaker on Nybrogatan closes as early as 4 pm on the day before a public holiday.
