How the three groups differ

  • Sergels torg and Gamla Brogatan: three shops within half a kilometre, all open on Sundays.
  • Östermalm and Jakobsbergsgatan: handmade leather shoes, one shop for women and two for men.
  • Kungsholmen and Vasastan: four shops, each with its own speciality.
  • The selection is ten of just over seventy cards in the catalogue category.

By Sergels torg two of the shops are in Sergelgången: a chain shop with shoes and accessories for the whole family, and a Swedish fashion brand's own shop, which besides shoes has bags and leather garments and whose collections are developed in a design studio in Varberg. A few blocks to the west, on Gamla Brogatan, is a shop that has been on the street since 1975 and at the same address since 1979. It sells boots, cowboy boots and biker boots, platform shoes and creepers, has a vegan section of its own and, since 2020, a jeans shop next door.

The classic leather shoes are on Östermalm and in the centre. On Nybrogatan there is a women's shop with shoes made by hand in Italy; the same company has its men's shop on Riddargatan, which is not included here. On Humlegårdsgatan you find English men's shoes and boots from a maker that has produced shoes since 1880, and on Jakobsbergsgatan men's shoes from a brand that started in 2016, designs its shoes in the capital and has them made in Portugal.

The last four shops are for those who know what the shoe has to cope with. On Hantverkargatan on Kungsholmen you find barefoot shoes for adults, that is, shoes with a wide toe box and a flat sole. In Vasastan there is a shop on Hälsingegatan with quality shoes for women and men from more than fifty brands, a shop on Odengatan with work shoes for healthcare, kitchens, service and other occupations, and a shop on Luntmakargatan with hiking boots, wellingtons and sandals for outdoor life, more than 350 models according to the shop itself.

More shoe shops than the ten here are listed in the catalogue category Shoe stores. The city's own page is Stockholm, and other shop guides are collected under Shopping.

Sundays, short opening hours and returns

  • Open on Sundays: five of the ten shops.
  • Closed on Sundays: English men's shoes, barefoot shoes and hiking boots.
  • Work shoes: the shop is open Monday to Thursday, 1 pm to 5 pm.
  • Returns: 60 days at the chain shop, 30 days at two of the specialist shops.

On Sundays five of the ten shops are open according to their websites (read on 7 October 2026). By Sergels torg the chain shop opens at noon and the fashion brand's shop at 11 am, and both close at 5 pm; on weekdays they are open from 10 am to 7 pm. The shop on Gamla Brogatan is open on Sundays from noon to 4 pm, the women's shop on Nybrogatan from 1 pm to 4 pm and the men's shoe shop on Jakobsbergsgatan from 11 am to 5 pm.

Three shops stay closed on Sundays. The shop with English men's shoes on Humlegårdsgatan is open from 11 am to 6 pm on weekdays and from noon to 4 pm on Saturdays, the barefoot shoe shop on Hantverkargatan from 11 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, and the hiking boot shop from 10 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 10 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. The shortest hours are those of the work shoe shop on Odengatan: Monday to Thursday, 1 pm to 5 pm, while customer service answers the phone on weekdays from 11 am to 4 pm.

Return periods differ between the shops. The chain shop by Sergels torg states a 60-day return period and free returns to the shop, while the barefoot shoe shop and the work shoe shop state 30 days. Ask at the till what applies to a pair you have tried on and bought on the spot, since the terms on the websites are written mainly for online purchases.

Foot analysis, trainer cleaning and repairs

  • Foot analysis: the barefoot shoe shop takes bookings by email.
  • Personal fitting: in the shop with English men's shoes.
  • Trainer cleaning: the shoes are handed in at the shop on Hälsingegatan.
  • Repairs: two of the leather shoe shops use workshops outside the shop.

Barefoot shoes fit differently from ordinary shoes, which is why the shop on Hantverkargatan offers personal advice and foot analysis. The analysis can be booked in advance by email.

The shop on Hälsingegatan cleans trainers. There is a smaller and a larger wash with cleaning and waterproofing, as well as boot cleaning, bleaching and repainting of soles and repair of scuffed areas. The shoes are handed in over the counter in the shop.

Anyone buying leather shoes for many years ahead will sooner or later need a cobbler. The women's shop on Nybrogatan has a repair and shoe care service run by a partner, and the shop with English men's shoes refers customers to approved workshops and helps with a personal fitting of last and size.

The hiking boot shop on Luntmakargatan has been there since 2002 and also sells insoles and shoe care. It says itself that the website shows a lot but far from everything, so you only see the full range on the spot, where the staff help with the choice.
