How to choose an area: the centre, the west or the south

  • In the centre: Drottningtorget, Gustav Adolfs torg and the start of Södra Förstadsgatan.
  • West of the centre: Regementsgatan and Sergels väg.
  • South of the centre: Föreningsgatan, Bergsgatan and the southern end of Södra Förstadsgatan.
  • The selection is small compared with the catalogue, which holds more than a hundred Asian restaurants and sushi bars in the city.

The groups differ not only in location but also in the kind of places they hold. At Drottningtorget there is a restaurant where you book a table, eat japas, small Japanese dishes to share, and can stay until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The two other places in the centre, at Gustav Adolfs torg and at the start of Södra Förstadsgatan, close at 20:00 and 21:00 respectively and take orders for collection (the places' own websites, October 2026).

West of the centre two places are on Regementsgatan and one is on Sergels väg. One of those on Regementsgatan describes itself as primarily a takeaway place but also serves omakase at the table on certain evenings. The other is in the Kronprinsen building and has bubble tea alongside the sushi.

South of the centre there is a family-run place on Föreningsgatan that has been open since 2012, a place on Bergsgatan that takes orders online, and a third far to the south on Södra Förstadsgatan. The full range, including places that are not on this page, is in the catalogue category Asian Restaurants & Sushi Bars. The Malmö page in the catalogue gathers facts about the city, and more guides to eating out are under Restaurants and cafés.

Ordering: collect it yourself, have it delivered or book a table

  • Collection: several places take orders online, one of them for collection only.
  • Delivery: three places state delivery on their websites, one of them free of charge.
  • Lunch: separate menus in the middle of the day, ending at 14:00, 14:30 or 16:00.
  • Payment: the restaurant at Drottningtorget is cash-free.
  • Tables: booked online or by phone at the restaurant at Drottningtorget.

How the food reaches you depends on the place. One of the places on Regementsgatan takes online orders for collection only. The place at Gustav Adolfs torg offers both collection and home delivery through its ordering page, the place at the start of Södra Förstadsgatan states free home delivery and a discount on online orders that are collected, and the place on Sergels väg states delivery and also takes catering enquiries (the places' websites, October 2026). Which addresses are covered is stated on each ordering page.

Sushi lunch has its own hours. At Gustav Adolfs torg the lunch menu applies from 11:00 to 16:00 with 9, 11 or 14 pieces and miso soup. At the start of Södra Förstadsgatan the lunch offers apply from 11:00 to 14:30, on Bergsgatan from 11:00 to 14:00, and the restaurant at Drottningtorget serves lunch on weekdays from 11:30 to 14:30. Dinner starts there at 16:00, and the evening menu on Bergsgatan opens for orders at the same time.

The restaurant at Drottningtorget is cash-free: you pay by card or Swish. You book a table through the link on the restaurant's website or by phone. On Fridays and Saturdays it is open until midnight and on other evenings until 22:00, and the kitchen closes one hour earlier.

Omakase, vegetarian and vegan: read what is included

  • Omakase at the table: the pieces are served one at a time, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at a place on Regementsgatan.
  • Omakase to take away: the pieces are plated together, at lunch and in the evening.
  • Vegetarian: may contain omelette or cream cheese.
  • Vegan: available as a separate roll or made on request.

Omakase means that the chef chooses the pieces. One of the places on Regementsgatan distinguishes two versions: one where the best ingredients of the day are plated all at once and which can be taken away, and a full omakase menu where the pieces, mostly nigiri, are served one at a time. The full menu is served only on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, is eaten in and is best booked in advance. The place serves no alcohol (the place's website, October 2026).

Vegetarian and vegan are not the same thing on the menus. At the place at the start of Södra Förstadsgatan the vegetarian sets include nigiri with omelette, and several rolls contain cream cheese. The place writes that its sushi can also be made vegan, so say so when you order. At the restaurant at Drottningtorget there was, in October 2026, a vegan roll with tofu, avocado, cucumber and vegan mayonnaise, while a roll with vegetables in its name contained cream cheese.

Poké bowls are served at several of the places, among them those at Gustav Adolfs torg, on Sergels väg and at the start of Södra Förstadsgatan, where warm bowls are served as well. Those who do not eat raw fish therefore have something to choose from.
