How to choose: district and pizza style
- Near the centre: the places in the first group lie in a row to the west, from Vasagatan via Linnégatan and Plantagegatan to Stigbergstorget.
- Further out: Mariagatan in Majorna, and Eriksberg, Lindholmen and Kville on Hisingen.
- The pizza style is stated on the card or on the menu: Neapolitan, Roman or wood-fired.
- This page is a selection: the catalogue holds more than five hundred restaurants in the city.
The groups are divided by location, because location is usually what decides where you eat pizza on an ordinary evening. The first group holds the restaurants in Vasastaden, in Linné and at Stigbergstorget: it is about two kilometres in a straight line from the easternmost to the westernmost, and the two in Linné are a couple of hundred metres apart. Here pizza is part of an evening at a restaurant: the cards mention charcuterie, pasta and Italian food alongside the pizza.
The places in the second group are in residential districts: one on Mariagatan in Majorna and three on Hisingen, north of the river: in Eriksberg, on Lindholmen and in Kville. Two of them name Neapolitan pizza as their speciality, and three offer takeaway according to the cards.
The style names describe the dough and the baking, not the quality. Neapolitan pizza is stated by two places in the second group and wood-fired pizza by two in the first, and a restaurant in Linné calls its pizza Roman style on its website (October 2026). What the style means for size and base is shown on the menu.
More restaurants, including those not listed here, are in the catalogue category Restaurants, where you can search by name, and facts about the city are on the city page. Guides on other topics are gathered under Restaurants and cafés.
Before you go: hours, tables and ordering
- The evening restaurants open at 17:00 on weekdays, according to the websites we have read.
- Weekday lunch pizza: the neighbourhood pizzeria on Lindholmen opens at 10:30.
- You book a table on the restaurant's website, by phone or by email.
- You order takeaway online or by phone.
Three of the restaurants whose hours we read on their own websites in October 2026 open at 17:00 on weekday evenings. Two of them, in Vasastaden and in Linné, open earlier towards the weekend: one at 16:00 on Fridays and 13:00 on Saturdays, the other at 11:30 on Fridays and 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. The third, in Majorna, is open Tuesday to Saturday from 17:00 to 22:00 and closed on Sundays and Mondays.
So if you want pizza in the middle of a weekday, the neighbourhood pizzeria is the one to go for. The one on Lindholmen is open from 10:30 on weekdays and from 12:00 at weekends, until 21:00 every day, and serves lunch on weekdays between 10:30 and 14:00 (the pizzeria's website, October 2026).
Table booking works differently from place to place. The restaurant in Vasastaden has booking on its website and also welcomes guests without a booking. The restaurant in Linné takes bookings by email, by phone and on its booking page, and the restaurant in Majorna has booking on its website. On Lindholmen you order takeaway online or by phone, and according to the card the pizzeria also delivers.
The hours on the cards may differ from the restaurant's own, so check the day's hours on the restaurant's website before you go.
Gluten, cheese and vegetarian: the menu decides
- A gluten-free base is not available everywhere: one restaurant in the first group writes on its menu that the pizzas are not gluten-free.
- Cheese or crème fraîche is also part of pizzas with vegetables.
- The style name says nothing about allergens.
The menu tells you more than the style name. One of the restaurants in the first group states explicitly under the heading Pizza on its menu that the pizzas are not gluten-free (October 2026). If you have coeliac disease or an allergy, it is therefore not enough that a place has pizza on the menu: ask the staff about the ingredients before you order.
A pizza with vegetables is not automatically vegan. On the same menu, cheese or crème fraîche is also part of the pizzas with aubergine and with chanterelles. If you want pizza without dairy products, you therefore need to read the ingredients, not only the name of the pizza. On a Swedish menu, ost means cheese.
