How to choose: district first, then format
- Norrmalm and Vasastan: three of four kitchens open at 11:00 on weekdays, and all are open on Mondays.
- Östermalm: an evening place with a menu for sharing, and two restaurants with a lunch menu.
- Södermalm and Hammarbyhamnen: Thai small dishes, a wok restaurant and a restaurant boat at the quay.

The restaurants in the first group are on Olofsgatan and Wallingatan in Norrmalm and by Sankt Eriksgatan and Sankt Eriksplan in Vasastan. Three of them open at 11:00 on weekdays and close at 21:00 or later, while the fourth is an evening restaurant that opens at 16:00 and has been there since 2003 (the restaurants' own websites, read on 7 October 2026). All four are open every day of the week.
On Östermalm the restaurants are on Nybrogatan, Linnégatan and Valhallavägen. The one on Nybrogatan is an evening place: open from 16:00 on weekdays and from 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, with a family style menu shared at the table. The restaurant on Linnégatan opens at 11:00 from Tuesday to Friday and at 14:00 at weekends, and the kitchen closes a quarter of an hour before closing time on weekdays and half an hour before at weekends.
South of Slussen the formats differ most. On Folkungagatan Thai food is served in tapas size, on Ringvägen there is a wok restaurant open every day from 11:00 to 21:00, and at the quay in Norra Hammarbyhamnen lies a restaurant boat with tables both on board and on pontoons and a jetty.

Booking a table, drop-in and closed days
- Booking: usually on the restaurant website, through a booking system.
- Phone or email: that is how three of the restaurants are booked.
- Closed on Mondays: two of the three places south of Slussen.
- Size of the party: ask first, small rooms have an upper limit.
- Outdoor seating: can be drop-in even when the dining room can be booked.
Seven of the restaurants have table booking on their website, usually through a button that leads to a booking system. For the other three we found only a phone number or an email address (the websites, 7 October 2026). The evening restaurant on Wallingatan expressly recommends booking ahead for dinner.
Monday is the usual closed day, but only south of Slussen: both the small-dish restaurant on Folkungagatan and the restaurant boat are closed then. The boat opens at 16:00 from Tuesday to Friday and at 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays, and on Fridays and Saturdays it stays open until midnight. On Östermalm one of the restaurants is for the time being open only for lunch on Mondays.
How many you are matters. The restaurant on Folkungagatan writes that its room is small and that it does not take parties larger than six, while the boat has an aft saloon for eight to ten people who want to sit a little apart. In Vasastan one restaurant takes only drop-in guests on its outdoor terrace during the summer months, because demand is high then.
Lunch, take away, dogs and vegetarian food

Lunch follows the working week. In Vasastan one restaurant serves lunch from Monday to Friday, 11:00 to 15:00, and on Folkungagatan the lunch of the day runs from Tuesday to Friday, 11:00 to 14:00, before the kitchen opens again at 16:00 with small dishes (the websites, 7 October 2026). Another four restaurants have a lunch menu or list lunch among their services. A restaurant by Sankt Eriksplan does the opposite and serves the same dishes all day, every day.
Food to take away is available in all three groups: six of the restaurants have take away or an order button on their website, and several of them also deliver through delivery services. The wok restaurant on Ringvägen has a children's menu as well, and two of the restaurants take on catering.
If you have a dog with you, there are two options in the first group. A restaurant in Norrmalm welcomes dogs and has a water bowl on request. One in Vasastan has a limited number of indoor places for parties with a dog and asks you to call ahead.
If you eat vegetarian, it pays to read the menu closely. At one of the restaurants on Södermalm, letters in the menu show which dishes come in a vegetarian version and which contain gluten or nuts. Fish sauce is one of the basics of Thai cooking, so say so when you order if you do not eat fish.
