Which group suits you

The page is for you if you want Greek food on a Monday evening, when half of the kitchens are closed, if you are looking for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday, or if you are a group that needs a room of its own.

How to choose: location, day of the week and way of eating

  • North of Slussen: one restaurant near the Central Station, one in Vasastan and two on Valhallavägen.
  • Södermalm west of Götgatan: meze to share, outdoor seating by a park and a family-owned kitchen on Ringvägen.
  • Eastern Södermalm: three restaurants within a ten-minute walk of each other, the oldest opened in 1974.
  • The page is a selection: the catalogue has just under twenty cards for Greek kitchens.

North of Slussen the restaurants are spread out. The one on Bryggargatan is in Norrmalm, a few minutes' walk from the Central Station, the one on Sankt Eriksgatan is in Vasastan, and two are on Valhallavägen, just over a kilometre apart. The two on Valhallavägen are open every day of the week, while the other two are closed on Mondays (the restaurants' own websites, read on 7 October 2026).

West of Götgatan there are three restaurants: on Sankt Paulsgatan, by Fatbursparken and on Ringvägen. The first has meze to share and dishes from the grill. The second serves meze dishes in small and large sizes and has outdoor seating facing the park. The third is a small family-owned restaurant founded in 1984.

East of Götgatan, Tjärhovsgatan, Bondegatan and Sofiagatan lie close to each other, and this is where the longest histories are. One restaurant has served Greek food since 1974, from grilled dishes to fish and seafood, and another has had the same owners since 1995. Two of the three are open every day.

More Greek kitchens, including fast food with gyros and pita, are in the catalogue category Restaurants. More about the city is on the Stockholm page, and more food guides are under Restaurants and cafés.

Opening hours: evening places on weekdays, lunch only at the weekend

  • Weekdays: the kitchens open at 4 pm or 5 pm, there is no weekday lunch.
  • Monday: closed at five of the ten.
  • Saturday and Sunday: six restaurants open in the middle of the day, on at least one of the days.
  • Late evenings: open until midnight on Saturdays at six of them.

The Greek restaurants on this page are evening places. Nine of them give times on their websites, and none of the nine opens before 4 pm on a weekday: six open at 4 pm or 4.30 pm and three at 5 pm (the websites, 7 October 2026). The tenth only says that it is open every day of the week.

Monday is the usual day off, and five of the ten are closed then. There are still open kitchens on a Monday in all three groups: the two on Valhallavägen, the restaurant on Sankt Paulsgatan and two of the three east of Götgatan.

At the weekend the day looks different. One restaurant in Norrmalm opens at noon on Saturdays, two on Södermalm open at 1 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and a third at 2 pm. Weekend lunch or brunch is explicitly on the programme at two restaurants on Södermalm, and one of the restaurants on Valhallavägen has a Sunday buffet from 11 am to 4 pm. By Fatbursparken they open earlier than usual on sunny Saturdays and Sundays.

Evenings are long at the end of the week. Six of the restaurants are open until midnight on Saturdays, and four of them on Fridays too. The kitchen may close earlier than the dining room, so ask when you book a late table.

Booking a table, larger groups and food to take away

  • Booking: all ten take bookings through their websites.
  • More than six people: one restaurant wants you to call or email.
  • A private room: 8 to 14 seats in one, up to 35 in another.
  • Take away: two restaurants on Södermalm have online ordering.
  • Payment: one restaurant on eastern Södermalm does not take cash.

All ten restaurants have table booking on their websites (7 October 2026). Nine use a booking button or a booking system, the tenth a form, and it confirms the booking by email. The same restaurant, in Vasastan, holds the table for fifteen minutes after the booked time. In Norrmalm a cancellation must be made at least 24 hours in advance, and the restaurant writes that a no-show may be charged.

If you are many, there are several ways. On Sankt Paulsgatan you can book online for up to six people, while larger groups call or email. One restaurant east of Götgatan counts 14 people or more as a larger group and takes the enquiry directly. The restaurant in Norrmalm is happy to receive a pre-order of the food when a group books.

A private room is found in two places. In Vasastan one restaurant has a small room for 8 to 14 people. On eastern Södermalm there is a chambre séparée for up to 35 guests and a banqueting floor for groups of 20 to 60 people.

Food to take away can be ordered online at two restaurants on Södermalm, one on each side of Götgatan. One of the restaurants on eastern Södermalm is cash-free and takes cards only.

Questions and answers

Which Greek restaurants in Stockholm are open on Mondays?

Five of the ten: the two on Valhallavägen, one on Sankt Paulsgatan and two on eastern Södermalm. The other five have Monday as their closed day (the restaurants' websites, 7 October 2026).

Do Greek restaurants serve lunch?

Not on weekdays: the kitchens on this page open at 4 pm at the earliest. On Saturdays and Sundays three of the restaurants have a weekend lunch, a brunch or a Sunday buffet, and another three open in the middle of the day.

Do you have to book a table?

For a Friday or Saturday evening it is wise to book. All ten have booking on their websites, and one of them holds the table for fifteen minutes after the booked time.

Where can a larger group eat Greek food?

Two restaurants have rooms of their own: one for 8 to 14 people in Vasastan and one for up to 35 guests on eastern Södermalm, where there is also a banqueting floor. Others take groups after contact by phone or email.

What is meze?

Meze is several small dishes that are put on the table and shared by the party. Three of the restaurants describe their food that way, two of them on Södermalm west of Götgatan.

Are there vegetarian and vegan dishes?

Yes. One restaurant in Norrmalm writes that it has vegan and gluten-free options, and one on eastern Södermalm marks vegetarian and vegan dishes in its menu. Tell the staff when you order.
