Here are Indian restaurants in Malmö: by Möllevångstorget and along Södra Förstadsgatan, by the canal in Gamla staden, in Dockan and in Hyllie. The page helps you find a weekday lunch, a kitchen that is open late and the right way to book or order home: the cards give the address and a short description of each restaurant, and there is a map further down.

Cards checked on 7 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Lunch, evening and late kitchens: when it is open

  • Weekday lunch: 11 am to 2 pm in Dockan and at the northern end of Södra Förstadsgatan.
  • Afternoon only: one restaurant by Möllevångstorget opens at 2 pm Monday to Friday.
  • Late: two restaurants by the square stay open until 1 am on Friday and Saturday.
  • Sunday: closed in Dockan, open from 4 pm on Norra Vallgatan.

An Indian lunch on a weekday is found mainly outside Möllevången. The restaurant on Masttorget in Dockan serves lunch Monday to Friday from 11 am to 2 pm, and the same times apply at the northern end of Södra Förstadsgatan, where the restaurant itself counts five minutes on foot from Triangeln (the restaurants' websites, October 2026). On Norra Vallgatan, a few hundred metres from the Central Station, the kitchen opens at 11 am Monday to Friday, and the Emporia shopping centre in Hyllie has Indian street food every day from 10 am to 8 pm.

By Möllevångstorget the day looks different. The Punjabi restaurant opens at 11.30 am every day, its neighbour on the same square not until 2 pm Monday to Friday and 1 pm at weekends. Both stay open until 1 am on Friday and Saturday, but at the Punjabi one the kitchen closes at 11 pm on those nights and at 9.45 pm the rest of the week.

South of Triangeln the hours are harder to read. The southern Indian restaurant states on one page that it is open every day from 11 am to 10 pm, and on another 5 pm to 9 pm on weekdays and 11.30 am to 10 pm at weekends. The restaurant a couple of hundred metres north on the same street has a lunch menu but gives no opening hours at all on its website, so a phone call is the surest way to know.

Other Asian kitchens in the city are in the category Asian restaurants and sushi bars, the Malmö page of the directory gathers the other categories of the city, and the section Restaurants and cafés has more guides about food.

Book a table, collect or have it delivered

  • Online booking: at three restaurants, through their own form or a booking service.
  • By phone: how you book a table at both restaurants by Möllevångstorget.
  • Delivery: through a delivery service or the restaurant's own ordering page.
  • The shopping centre in Hyllie: neither table booking nor a phone number on the website.

Three of the restaurants take table bookings online (October 2026). The southern Indian one and the restaurant at the northern end of Södra Förstadsgatan each use a booking service, and in Dockan the guest fills in a form and is then asked to confirm by phone. On Norra Vallgatan the button for table booking leads to the contact page.

By Möllevångstorget you book by phone at both restaurants. The Punjabi one takes no bookings for lunch or for the outdoor seating, holds a booked table for 15 minutes and asks parties of more than eight to call. In Hyllie the format is different: the food is described as street food at a faster pace, and the website mentions neither booking nor a phone number.

Food to take away is sold at most of the places. The restaurant that has moved to a new address on Södra Förstadsgatan has a separate takeaway menu and is listed with a delivery service, the southern Indian one has a page for takeaway and delivery, and at the northern end of the street you order on the restaurant's own page online. On Norra Vallgatan too it is possible to order online, and the restaurant in Dockan sells food for collection.

The kitchen: Punjabi, southern Indian and street food

  • Punjabi: by Möllevångstorget and at the northern end of Södra Förstadsgatan.
  • Southern Indian: Chettinad cooking and dosa south of Triangeln.
  • Halal: stated by both restaurants by Möllevångstorget.
  • Vegan: a separate vegan menu on Södra Förstadsgatan, a section of vegan and vegetarian dishes by the square.

Indian food covers several kitchens, and the restaurants describe themselves differently. Two call their food Punjabi: one by Möllevångstorget, the other at the northern end of Södra Förstadsgatan, where the menu is built on curries, biryani and bread baked in a tandoor. The southern Indian restaurant puts forward Chettinad cooking and dosa, thin pancakes made of rice, and belongs to a chain also found in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsingborg and Södertälje.

The restaurant on Norra Vallgatan is also part of a chain, with restaurants in Gothenburg, Mölndal and Kungsbacka and a twentieth anniversary in 2025. In Hyllie the range consists of dishes such as butter chicken, thali, naan and vindaloo, while the restaurant that has moved on Södra Förstadsgatan names the whole of India as its source of inspiration.

Halal is stated expressly by the two restaurants by Möllevångstorget, and one of them writes that all its food is halal. The restaurant that has moved has a separate vegan menu, and the one that opens in the afternoon has a section of vegan and vegetarian dishes. At the Punjabi restaurant by the square some dishes are marked as vegan although cheese, milk or cream is listed among the ingredients, so ask about the very dish you plan to order.
