Tapas in Gothenburg: 6 places in Vasastaden, Haga, Linné, Majorna and at Eriksberg

This page lists tapas restaurants and tapas bars in Gothenburg: in Vasastaden and Haga, in Linné and Majorna, and on the quay at Eriksberg. It shows where the tapas are Spanish and where the small plates come from several cuisines, so that you can choose by location, day of the week and company: every card gives the address, the phone number and a short description.

Cards checked on 7 October 2026. Editor: Alex. Found a mistake? Leave a comment at the bottom of the page.

Which group suits you

This page is useful if you want to share Spanish tapas for an evening near the centre, are looking for a place that is open on a Monday or a Sunday, or want to eat by the water on Hisingen.

Spanish or mixed: what separates the groups

  • First group: three places with Spanish tapas, at most just over four hundred metres apart.
  • Second group: small plates in tapas format from several cuisines, in Linné, in Majorna and on Hisingen.
  • Bus 16 and the Älvsnabben ferry go to the quay at Eriksberg.
  • Two of the six places are listed in the directory among the bars, not among the restaurants.

The groups follow both the location and the food. The first has three places in Vasastaden and Haga: on Vasagatan, on Sprängkullsgatan and on Övre Husargatan by Skanstorget. In a straight line it is just over four hundred metres between the two that lie furthest apart, so you can look in at one place and walk on to the next if it is full. The food here is Spanish: one of the menus we read in October 2026 has patatas bravas, croquetas and gambas pil pil, and one of the restaurants also bakes pizza in a wood-fired oven.

In the second group the format is the same, small dishes shared at the table, but the food is not only Spanish. The restaurant on Övre Majorsgatan in Linné describes its food as small plates from all the cuisines of the world, the place on Mariagatan in Majorna works with local produce in season according to its card, and the restaurant on the quay at Västra Eriksberg divides its menu into small tapas, tapas from land and forest, from the sea, from the plant kingdom and sweet tapas.

To reach Eriksberg you cross the river. The restaurant there writes that you take bus 16 to Eriksbergstorget or the Älvsnabben ferry to Eriksbergs färjeläge and then walk about five minutes along the quay, in the direction of the Eriksberg crane.

More places are listed in the directory under Restaurants and under Bars and lounges, where two of the tapas places are filed. Facts about the city are on the Gothenburg page, and more food guides are collected under Restaurants and cafés.

Days and times: Monday, Sunday and weekend lunch

  • Monday: open in Linné from 4 pm and in Majorna from 5 pm.
  • Sunday: open by Skanstorget and in Linné from noon, in Majorna from 5 pm.
  • Of the five places whose hours we read, none opens before 3.30 pm on a weekday.
  • At Eriksberg the restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday.

The times here come from the places' own websites, read in October 2026; the restaurant on Vasagatan had no working website to read. Monday is the hardest day: the restaurant by Skanstorget is closed, the place on Sprängkullsgatan is open Tuesday to Saturday and the restaurant at Eriksberg Wednesday to Saturday. Open on Mondays are the app restaurant in Linné, from 4 pm to 9 pm, and the place in Majorna, from 5 pm.

At the weekend you can eat tapas in the middle of the day. The restaurant by Skanstorget opens at noon on both Saturday and Sunday, so does the restaurant in Linné, and in Majorna the doors open at 1 pm on Saturdays. On Sprängkullsgatan and at Eriksberg Friday and Saturday start at 4 pm, and Sunday is not among the opening days at either of the two.

The kitchen closes earlier than the room. In Linné the kitchen takes orders until 8 pm Monday to Thursday, until 9.15 pm on Friday and Saturday and until 7.30 pm on Sundays. Several of the others only state that they are open until late, without a time, so ask when the kitchen closes if you arrive after 9 pm.

Public holidays change the picture: the restaurant at Eriksberg stays closed when a holiday falls on a weekday and keeps different hours around some major holidays. The cards in the directory do not always show the same times as the places themselves, so go by the website.

Tables, app and takeaway: how it works

  • Online booking: by Skanstorget, in Majorna and at Eriksberg.
  • In Linné you book, order and pay in the restaurant's app.
  • The group menus by Skanstorget are ordered in advance.
  • Takeaway at Eriksberg: five tapas per person, at least two people.

Four of the six places take bookings online. The restaurant by Skanstorget has a booking system on its website and answers the phone Tuesday to Friday from noon to 4 pm. The place in Majorna has online booking and can also be reached by email and phone. At Eriksberg you book on the website or by phone; the restaurant states explicitly that the office email address is not for table bookings. On the website of the place on Sprängkullsgatan we found no booking function in October 2026.

The restaurant in Linné works differently from the others. Everything is handled in an app: you book a table, browse the menu, place your orders and can pay the bill on your phone. Prams are left by the entrance for fire-safety reasons, and anyone bringing a dog should write so in the booking. At Eriksberg dogs are welcome according to the restaurant's website.

How much should you order? Two places have ready answers. On Sprängkullsgatan there is a set selection of nine tapas sold per person, and at Eriksberg you can collect your own choice of five tapas per person, with two people as the minimum order and with bread and aioli included. Takeaway at Eriksberg is ordered by phone. By Skanstorget there are group menus, and they must be ordered in advance.
